A player has completed their run-up, deliberately stops to gain an advantage over a goalkeeper and then kicks the ball into the goal. The same player was cautioned (yellow card) for another offence during extra time. What is the referee’s decision?

THE DECISION

The kick is recorded as missed and the kicker is cautioned for unsporting behaviour (illegal feinting). Cautions issued during the match (including during extra time) are not carried forward into penalties (penalty shoot-out) so the player who received a yellow card during both the match and the penalties (penalty shoot-out) is not sent off. The two separate cautions are reported to the appropriate authorities.
